If you’ve ever tasted that dreamy pistachio chocolate from Dubai, you know exactly what I’m talking about—velvety, indulgent, and absolutely unforgettable. Now imagine that magic in cupcake form…....

This recipe started as a small experiment after I brought home a box of those elegant pistachio chocolates from Dubai. One bite, and I knew I had to turn that flavor into something I could bake. After a few tests (and quite a few taste tests), this heavenly idea was born: Chocolate Pistachio Cupcakes.
They’re rich and chocolatey, yet refined—moist dark chocolate cake with a soft pistachio note throughout, and a creamy pistachio frosting that’s good enough to eat by the spoon. These cupcakes feel luxurious without being over the top. Just pure, sweet elegance in every bite.
Chocolate Pistachio Cupcakes Recipe
Makes: 8 standard cupcakes
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Bake Time: 18–20 minutes
Total Time: Approx. 35 minutes
Ingredients – Cupcake Batter
100g dark chocolate (70%), chopped
100g unsalted butter
100g brown sugar
2 eggs
75g full-fat Greek yogurt
60g flour
40g fine ground pistachios (unsalted)
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 175°C/350°F/150°Fan. Line a cupcake tray with 8 liners.
2. Melt the chocolate and butter together over low heat or in the microwave. Let it cool slightly.
3. Whisk in the sugar, then the eggs one by one. Add Greek yogurt and mix until smooth.
4. In a separate bowl, combine flour, pistachios, cocoa, baking powder, and salt.
5. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mix until just combined.
6. Divide the batter into cupcake liners and bake for 18–20 minutes or until a skewer comes out with a few moist crumbs. Let cool completely.
Pistachio Cream Frosting

Serves: Frosts 8 cupcakes generously
Prep Time: 10 minutes
150g cream cheese
2 tbsp high-quality pistachio paste or butter (unsweetened)
60g powdered sugar (or to taste)
Optional: a few drops of rosewater for a Middle Eastern twist
Beat everything together until smooth and fluffy. Pipe or spread generously over cooled cupcakes. Garnish with crushed pistachios or a drizzle of dark chocolate.
📝 Chef’s Tip:
For the best flavor, use pure pistachio paste without sugar or additives. It makes all the difference in bringing out that signature “Dubai chocolate” taste.
